The Best Authors You're Not Reading

One of the most popular copies of TV Guide was always the “Best Shows You Aren’t Watching”.  Critics have the privilege, or misfortune, of watching all the shows.  They see the good and the bad. Whether a show is tops in the ratings or barely registering they watch it.  Unlike when your best friend tells you they love a show, the critics get to tell millions.

Now here’s my conundrum, my book The Guardian’s Heart has gotten great reviews.  Some end up just on blogs while others are added to Amazon and Goodreads.  The Guardian’s Heart even earned a Best Book review from LASR. Think it’s easy to earn it?  Think again, only six books earned the honor in January even thought close to fifty books are reviewed each month.  Although the critics love the book I’m not seeing the readership I’d like.  I feel like Cheers.  Is The Guardian’s Heart the “Best Book You’re Not reading?”  Or since all my books that have reviews have had positive ones am I the “Best Author You’re Not Reading.”

Unlike a TV Guide showing up in a mailbox and sitting around for three or four weeks on someone’s end table a blog lasts forever. Then again unlike a magazine after one day you have to search for reviews on a blog.  Author’s can link the reviews, but again it’s not like it’s sitting there for you to discover unless you know the author.  Then the author wouldn’t be someone you’re not reading.

As an author you’re not reading how can I reach you? There are plenty of author’s out there you may not be reading.  I’ve decided to create a list.  In fact, I’m going to start with of course my own self-praise because if I don’t believe in myself who will.  Unlike most lists feel free to add authors you’ve enjoyed too, just avoid NYT Best Sellers or ones that have over 75 reviews on one book, they’re being read. If you haven’t been mentioned don’t take it as a slight, I had to stop the list somewhere.

The 10 Best Authors You’re Not Reading-feel free to click on a name and find their books.

Michel Prince-“This is a story I can see myself reading over and over again when I find myself needed to be inspired.”-LASR book reviews

Tricia Drammeh-“I highly recommend this book and am so fortunate to have discovered another wonderful writer! I can't wait to read more of Drammeh's work!” –Amazon Review

W. Lynn Chantale-“This book has everything romance, action, mystery and suspense.”-Amazon Review

D. X. Luc-“Wonderful! I'm quick to put a book down if it doesn't catch my attention right away. That is not a problem with this book. It's draws you in immediately.”-Amazon Review

Kassanna-“The story line was great and captivating. I would recommend this story.”-Amazon Review

J. L. Oiler-“Suspenseful, erotic, intriguing story of myth. If you enjoy vampires, demons, or any other mythical creatures you should read this book. It's fast paced & will keep you reading til the very end.”-Amazon Review

Lindsay Downs-“All three of these novellas packed great suspense, and eroticism. I highly recommend this wonderful reading experience.”-Amazon Review

Laura Breck-Award Winner! Dancing in a Hurricane won RomCon's 2013 Readers' Crown Award for Best Contemporary Romance. –“I loved this book! Go out and get it! You will not be disappointed.”-Amazon Review

Jacoba Dorothy-“No curse here just a good read that builds momentum and ends with you wanting more, and thankfully I understand there is a sequel. The author reminds me of j k Rowling in that you can tell there is a real love for her characters, they are not just there to tell a story they are the story.”-Amazon Review

Mary Wehr-“If you want to read an amazing love story with a hero and heroine who are relatable and anything but typical, run to get this.”-Amazon Review

Rebels made the USA what it is today...

Today is the day we celebrate rebels.  A rebel is a person who rises in armed resistance against an established government or ruler.  The minute men and the first Constitutional Congress were, a group of rebels trying to create a better union.

As a Rebel writer I have to smile at that.  Rebel Ink Press rises against the established rule when it comes to publishing.  BDSM just recently became mainstream thanks to another rebel like publisher out of Australia and the Fifty Shades Trilogy.  Before that we at Rebel had our own amazing BDSM writers.

What makes a Rebel writer?  Isn’t that the eternal question.  Rebel’s write romance from sweet to sensual to erotic.  They’ll give you steampunk and paranormal.  They’ll give you comedy and drama.  They’ll bring you to tears then have a hero save the day.  Rebel’s aren’t stuck in box.  They refuse to be trapped in a box.  My first novel Chrysalis didn’t fit into the mold of Rebel being a Young Adult book, but now Rebel has other Young Adult books.

Much like the rebels that populate the United States there is no formula except a hard work ethic, eclectic style and stories that people want to hear.  So today I’d like you to check out my other Rebel writers.  Find out what makes the tick.  We don’t raise arms against the establishment, we just write what people want to read instead of writing what we’re told people want.

My latest Rebel release comes out July 17th check out the trailer and let me know will my Rebel ways lead to ruin or a whole new way of doing things.

So nice I decided to do it twice.  Flash Fiction

The Frozen is full of little female demons that can rip the head off the body of a member of The Frozen one second then screw your brains out and brand you with their tail.  Gotta love them.  Since I had so much fun with the Flash Fiction challenge last month I thought I'd bring back some writers and introduce you to a few new ones as they tell you what this little Deumos dreaming about.

Cailean is from The Frozen and although her voice isn't heard in the book I'd thought I'd introduce you to the smallest Deumos because I plan to let this little lady have her own book she's so much fun.

Cailean's Lust-By Michel Prince
Standing at the end of the hallway I see Damarion leaving the bathroom with just a towel wrapped around his hips.  A few stray drops of water are still sprinkled on his tanned skin and I growl wanting to lick him dry as my lips burn.  But I cannot.  Not until he says I can take him.  Not until the bitch Nemesio gets out of my way.

Still I stare at his firm chest and broad shoulders tight from the worry of our situation.  I want to go to him and let him free me from the confines of my clothing.  I wish to be naked before him and let him bite at my breasts while he spreads me wide.  My legs wish to wrapped around his neck while he rams me hard with his large cock.  I’ve seen the others wobble as they left his bed chamber and right now I can see he’s ready for those who wait for him.

“Yahweh,” I whisper hoping he’ll turn if for no other reason then to question if my voice was real or imagined.

He doesn’t.  Instead I see Zuma and Nemesio on his bed for him.  While he’s closing his door his towel drops and I see a sliver of his ass and I run to the door.  He will be mine.  I will mark him.  He will satisfy me to the point my tail will barb his neck and his blood will drip onto my waiting tongue.

Time Crunch-Rosanna Leo
“Hmm,” the little devil murmured. “So many men, so little time.” With a satisfied smile, she pondered her options. They were all delicious.
She’d chosen her ensemble with care that evening, being sure to include seductive elements that would appeal to each of her conquests. But who would be her chosen victim tonight?
There was Raphael, the healer. He could never resist an opportunity to try to convert her, and so she’d worn an outfit that displayed her forked tail to advantage. Once he saw that evidence of her unrepentant nature, he’d fall as surely as Lucifer had.
But there was also Gabriel, the messenger. He was a sucker for ornamentation. Thus, she’d worn her beaded bracelets, the ones that draped so enticingly across her evil skin.
And then there was Michael. The strong one. The brave one. He was her personal favorite. So incorruptible. Unfortunately for him, he also had a thing for fishnets.
Who to choose? Who to seduce?
Then, shining as brightly as the star emblazoned on her brow, the idea occurred to her.
She’d take them all.

Forbidden Rendezvous-Author D. X. Luc

Desmond's body still tingled from her hot encounter under the Tree of Knowledge. He stood there, waiting in his splendid glory. A gentle breeze rustling the pale red of his wings.

Desi sauntered up and looked him straight in his green eyes before plucking a juicy passion fruit from the tree's branches. With a challenging stare, she took a slow bite. Juice dripped over her lips and chin.

He raised a black brow. “You've made a mess. Let me clean you up.”

Built to be nothing but perfect,  not only did he lick up the fruit's nectar, he lapped up every inch of her exposed skin. Hell was hot but his body was hotter and when he buried his cock deep into her pussy, Desmond saw heaven and beyond.

Each thrust made her quiver and come closer to the edge. He latched his expert mouth on her nipple and bit, the jolt just what she needed to explode in wet euphoria around him. Two, three, and finally four lunges had him groan his own release.

Breathing heavily, he finally pulled back and smiled. “Until we meet again, Desi?”

She bowed her head. “Always, Michael. My angel lover.”

     I’M GAME-By Cassandre Dayne

“What do you mean what am I thinking?” Sabrina asked as she adjusted her ears, devil ears, and gave Channing a soulful gaze. There was no doubt she was hot and bothered tonight and hoped the change in her appearance would give him a hint. She needed to seduce the man who’d filled her every waking dream and was determined not to take no for an answer.

“I’ve never seen you this way,” Channing said as he inhaled deeply and then gave her more than a once over.

Sizzling wasn’t the word to describe her sultry outfit and she could tell finally how much her naughty thoughts were getting to him. Licking her lips in anticipation, Sabrina studied his crotch and the way his hard cock pushed against his jeans – tight denim she was going to rip off later. And then she was going to take his shaft into her mouth. The thought made her wet all over. “Get used to it.”

     “And if I don’t?”

“Let me think.” Swishing her long devil’s tail, she glided around him in a full circle, tapping him with the tip. “If you don’t then I’ll be forced to use my powers.”

     “I’m game.”

Daddy's Little Angel-Melissa Keir

“Dad…daddy…please, pretty please.”

The whining voice of my teenage spawn was getting on my nerves again.  I’ve given  her so many things because of my manipulation of the world but is it ever enough for her? No. Now today she wants me to give her Chris Hemsworth as a new plaything.

“Please! I’ve only asked for sixteen dozen things this week but nothing as important as Chris.  I want to nibble on his neck, devour his mouth while I seize his hair, and run my tongue along his six-pack abs. I’ll be good.  I won’t hurt him like I did my last toy.  PLEASE!”

“I’m closing my ears.  I don’t want to hear what you’re going to do with that man.” Shoving my headphones over my ears and blasting my IPOD, I try to avoid her pleading, knowing that I can’t withhold things from my daughter for too long. She has me wrapped around her finger just as her mother does. It’s too bad that last plaything didn’t last a week under the ministrations of my darling daughter.  His soul was sold and he was begging to burn in Hell rather than face the loving of my little angel.

The Taking by Shaun Graves

Paul’s own eyes lost focus as he felt himself growing weaker.  This was clearly the best piece of pussy he ever had because it seemed to be draining him with his every stroke.  His knees wobbled and he struggled to stay on his feet.  This was not the way it was supposed to happen.  It was Winona whose knees were supposed to wobble and give out on her.

“Yes...you’re so vibrant,” she murmured, digging her nails into his back.

“Winona...stop...that hurts...”

“Pain...isn’t it beautiful,” she whispered, slipping a forked tongue into his ear.

Unable to see it, Paul writhed in agony.

“Winona!  Stop this shit!”

“Whyyy,” she uttered.  “Don’t you like it baby?  Doesn’t it make you feel like a man?”

Snatching his dick out of her sauna, Paul dropped Winona on her ass and scowled at her, still light-headed.  He was in a great deal of pain but a strong urge still compelled him to dive right back into her sweltering hot box.

“What the fuck is the matter with you?!  I said it hurt!”

“So you’re gonna be a bitch about it?!  You dropped me you bastard!” Winona screamed, angrily.

“Get out!  Get the fuck out, now!  You crazy bitch!”

Gathering her feet underneath her, Winona stood up and grabbed his erection, pulling it back to her to her sultry wetness.

"I own you, Paul...You're mine..."

"Get the fuck off me!  I don't want you, you crazy bitch!"

"Why is your cock still so hard then, babe?  I’m the woman you dream about…I’m your wildest fantasy, baby.  I know you, Paul...better than you could ever imagine...”

“Get out, Winona,” Paul said, swatting her hand away and reaching for his pants.

“You know, you really shouldn’t do me like this, babe.  You’ve fucked me way too many times for me to be receiving this treatment, Pauly…you don’t remember me?  Huh, baby?  Because I never forgot you.  All I try to do is keep it fresh for you…Can’t let this thing we have get stale…You owe me.”

Properly Served-J.L. Oiler

Loki lay across her bed watching out her window at the newest batch of demons that’d arrived to join her father’s army. Since her father Allegory and Uncle Stardom declared war over the right to rule, there’d been an endless stream of demons arriving at the castle. They were definitely interesting. Coming in all shapes sizes and colors imaginable, they were something to see. A roaring voice shouting at the newest arrivals caught her attention, making her leave her leisure perch to stare out her open window into the rocky grounds of the underworld she called home.

“I said get into line your filthy sorry bastards!”  The largest and most muscular demon Loki had ever seen shouted as he swung a long whip which cracked at the feet of what she now realized were prisoners instead of recruits. Now that was a form she would gladly sacrifice her virtue to.

“Lord Darklyn, His highness king Allegory welcomes you and ask that I ensure you are properly served during your visit.” the liaison said loud enough for her to hear.

If Loki had anything to say about it, she would be the one to make certain her was properly served.

Goddess’ Delight…by Lila Munro

Asmodeus watched as Artemis made her way through the door, her robe hanging open, inches and inches of iridescent skin shimmering in the light of the full moon’s beams easing their way across the room to caress the cold, hard marble floor. It left the impression of warmth, inviting. As her lover appeared to float across the room, Asmodeus turned and, planting both feet firmly on the down mattress, spread her legs and leaned back on her elbows, her tail twitching with anticipation. She flicked her tongue out and along her lower lip, her right hand finding its way up and over her burning abdomen and between her legs, heat rising to meet her fingers as they pushed past the flimsy piece of red silk barely covering her pussy. Artemis let her robe fall completely from her shoulders and as it swished to the floor, Asmodeus ran one finger along her clit, just enough to elicit a twinge of pleasure and it puckered beneath her touch.

“I’ve been waiting for you,” she whispered as that same finger made its way lower and sank into damp, clutching flesh.

“And you shall wait no more,” Artemis said a wicked grin spreading.

Distracted by the countdown

6/20/2012

Distraction can be a blessing or a curse.  We’re supposed to be writing and editing.  We have the necessary distractions of social media requirements for marketing, familial distractions necessary for a supportive and peaceful home and then the distractions of sleep so when we write we’re not making punch drunk mistakes.

All of which are baring down on me as we hit the one month mark for the countdown for The Frozen’s release.  Yes I said one month and technically I’ve already passed that while I was dealing with the familial distraction of summer camp with the boy.

See every year since 2007 I’ve been at some sort of summer camp.  Sure initially the Boy Scouts lure you in with a day camp or two or a nice two day over night camp.  Then as the boys get older you spend just one more night for outpost so the boys can get used to longer sessions at camp.

Now I take on myself the fact that I choose to be a leader in the Boy Scouts of America.  I also choose to have this be the time I get to spend with my boy.  Although as a Boy Scout once you step foot on the reservation you have no child at camp you have troop of kids and we are their models for behavior.  (Warning to all who have me as a model there are other leaders too.)

This distraction comes with responsibilities that when you have less than thirty days to your book release date seems strange to give up twelve days to Boy Scouts.  Two of those are travel days because I take my son to my father’s camp, which is in another council two states away.  It’s a good thing though because my son is the third generation to enjoy the camp and learn it’s ways.

I’ll have to now decide if I want to distract myself for another seven days at his troop’s camp too.  See how those day camps seem like not a big deal.  But we are in the age of technology and we as leaders may melt down if we had to do it the old way and not check our email, facebook and twitter accounts regularly so even though we can’t get a phone signal we still can Wi-fi so I’m able to tell you how I’m counting down the days to release.

I’ll be doing KP and in between I’ll be editing The Frozen and hopefully getting it off and back from my editor.  The one nice thing is I have the distraction of campfire programs, tribal duties (a story for another time) and the fact that I’m so hot sleep seems like something I should be doing every second of everyday if only I wasn’t singing, dancing and acting stupid so the boys will give me a strange look but secretly that’s why they come to camp.  It’s fun, it’s a test of your endurance and most of all it’s a great distraction in the middle of the summer.

Lovin' me some Lolo

6/13/2012

Picture
When I was in junior high I first stepped onto a real track.  My fingernails painted with what appeared like random numbers.  Unless you knew which race I was most focused on, then you knew it was the time I was going for.  This tradition continued all the way through college.  It seems like a silly thing to do, but when Flo-Jo ran you couldn’t help but notice every part of her.  Even though Florence Griffin-Joyner was a sprinter and I was a distance runner (something my coach quickly learned was a mistake) there was something about her that I couldn’t help but look to for inspiration.

Flo-Jo’s sister-in-law Jackie Joyner-Kersee was my idol.  A heptathlete who pushed herself to the limits and seemed to do it with poise and grace.  She was tough as nails and worked hard to achieve her goals.  I had posters, books and even a cat I named Kersee.

Every four years we get introduced to new batch of athletes who compete as professionals, but are only showcased during the Olympics.  I believe NBC usually does the background stories that send those tiny shivers up and down your spine.  This year we’re already hearing about the man who ran for three days straight to get away from rebels trying to add him to the army at age six.

Being a former intercollegiate athlete I love the Olympics…well the summer ones.  I love watching gymnastics, swimming, diving, volleyball, and especially track.    There’s a reason my characters tend to be athletes.  Maybe I’m cheating, but I believe the sport or sports you play help determine your personality.  In Chrysalis I have my volleyball playing Ellie and her football-playing boyfriend.  It’s not just the sport, but also the position on the field.  Ellie’s a commander, maybe not to begin with, but for her position she has to step up…much like how she is with the demons that attack her.  Then Oscar self-confident wide receiver, look professionals like Steve Smith from the Panthers.

In The Frozen I have Kiriana who was a division one sprinter then becomes a coach following an injury and the realization that she couldn’t commit to be an Olympic athlete.  Although Kiriana has the capacity to be singularly focused, much like in love she’s never truly had the motivation.

This year we have Lolo Jones making a comeback…it should be a repeat.  Four years ago she hit a hurdle when she was on pace to not only win the 100-meter hurdles, but possibly break a record.  She comes from one of those spine tingling childhoods and turned her negative into a positive.  The fact that she’s an interracial child just plays so nicely into my little world too.

Here’s the kicker with Lolo.  She’s beautiful, strong and has conviction.  There have been overrated stars that sports have paraded out to be the ‘face’ of the sport because of their beauty, but couldn’t back up the hype.  Ala Maria Sharapova the tennis player that gets all TV coverage even though she’s stayed at the bottom of the tennis rankings.

When Lolo hit the hurdle four years ago it was like I was kicked in the gut, because I understood that a millisecond and a millimeter could end decades of work.  I’d been cheering for her since the trials in Washington.  Because as they say there are some sports that even if you’ve won the title at the world championships, it means nothing if you can’t win at the Olympics.

Join me in supporting all the great athletes and learn their stories.  Being an athlete takes hard work, perseverance and a strong sense of self.  I’ll keep my characters up to the high standards set by those who excel in their various sports the right way and maybe once in awhile sprinkle a few of the naughty ones.  Not every athlete needs to come from a hard luck story to make them worthy of your support, but as you learn what they put their body’s through everyday to become the best in the world ask yourself could you?

Check out Lolo’s story.  Tomorrow I’ll be blogging on Rebel Reasoning about strong women and giving girls someone to look to as a role model.  I’m glad when I was younger I had Jackie Joyner-Kersee to look too.  No hard luck story just a hard working one, but I think now Lolo Jones is someone the young girls need to look to.  When I saw that she had 119,000 twitter followers and Kim Kardashian only had 57,000 I smiled.  Maybe the tide is turning and we are moving back to strong role models for girls…even if it’s only for the Olympics.

Rebel Blog Hoppin'-Discover The Frozen

I find blog hopping is all about getting know about a writer and their style...but what if instead of writing under a pseudonym I let you see my sweet and dark side.  Because behind every sweet little librarian's skirt is a pair of garters that one day may be lace and another leather.

My first novel is Chrysalis (now available) it's a sweet young adult paranormal romance that has been said to be what happens when Twilight meets Fifty Shades of Grey...No spankings for my young lovers, sorry, but you will have some warmer scenes.  I digress.  Chrysalis is a sweeter romance that is geared for that first love.

But I have a darker side...and as the heat of July creeps across the heartland passions will rise, but will The Frozen cool it down?

I like my character's hair pulled.  Long tails from a demon to wrap round their neck and barb them to mark the conquests.  And thunderstorms...aren't for snuggling close.  That air pressure seems like an invisible force pulling you toward the one you desire.

Is your desire going to be for good or evil?  And is that line one you see?  We are surrounded by people all day yet walk the world alone.  If you could truly become one with a person, beyond the sexual, would you?  Could you?  The Frozen live among us.  They protect us from unseen dangers.  Alone, yet surrounded.

Enjoy your hopping and remember to enter my contest as well as all the others.  Back to Rebel Forum

Stab at Flash Fiction

Little known fact...About two years ago I played with a flash fiction type game where I had to create some characters.  They were named Nye and Kiri.  That little exercise turned into almost 100,000 words and the beginning of The Frozen series, releasing July 17th.  So between celebrating the upcoming release I needed to also switch gears.  Everyone knows I love Chrysalis, but Chrysalis is bubble gum and The Frozen is hot wings.  I have a dark side so I searched out some adult writers...some best sellers and asked them to look at the picture to my left and come up with 150 words about it.  It will give you a little taste of their writing...if you like their piece please click on their website and check out their novels.

Right Where He Wants Her~~Lila Munro

Pulling into his driveway in his unmarked car wasn’t his intention when Lt. Dillon Quinn cuffed one Miss Jenna Dearbourne and tossed her into the back after she assured him her mouth was indeed truly that dirty. Calling him a cock-sucking bastard wasn’t far from the truth, but it stung nonetheless. He’d meant to haul her in and leave her in holding overnight to cool off, but something about those pouty, coral lips and transparent, blue eyes kept calling his baser instincts to the surface and punishment of another kind flashed through his mind’s eye bringing a smile and hard-on. Dillon’s husband would probably sigh and roll his eyes at the sight of yet another random female in their bed when he arrived home from the graveyard shift, but hell, what was there to complain about?

Handcuffed, well-fucked, and begging for more…soon he’d have her right where he wanted her…

I will have everything- Cassandre Dayne

Nick jerked her up onto his knee, pushing her arm behind her back. The handcuff was merely a formality. Bekka wasn’t going anywhere. Still, he enjoyed the way she responded when he was gruff, his demeanor bordering on savage. After all, she was his sub. “You belong to me, remember?”

“Yes, sir.” Her lower lip trembling, Bekka’s eyes opened wide.

While there was apprehension riding her face, there was also defiance and something Nick loved about her. All wildcat and verve, her willful actions alone were enough to force his swollen cock hard against the tight confines of his pants. He’d take her hard soon enough – just the way she craved. “What do you want?”

     “Everything.”

     “No matter what?”

“You can have anything and everything you hunger for.”

Brushing perspiration from her brow, he brought the single bead to his lips, savoring the taste of her. “I will have everything.”

Dance of the Succubus by JL Oiler

Koda swung around the pole as the lights flickered across her partially nude body. Her hunger drove her on, twisting and grinding to the loud music as the human men stared captivated by the curves of her body. Like the rest of her succubus siblings, that called the Inferno Room home, their desire feed her hunger. Sating this hunger meant ensuring that these men would be willing to do anything, including forfeit their souls, to possess her. Luckily for her, Koda already had one on the hook.

Motioning to him with a single bright red painted finger nail she coaxed him to the backroom and signaled for him to take a seat in the chair positioned in the room’s center.  Flipping the switch on the wall that set the music and ambiance, Koda swayed her way across the room and straddled his lap.

Licking her brightly painted lips in invitation she leaned in close and whispered against his ear.

“Do you want me?”

“Yes, do you want me?”

“Yes”

“Good” he said with a toothy grin that startled her moments before he sank his own fangs deep into her neck to feed.

Just my luck, Koda thought as her vision clouded. Of all the men in this place I would be the one to seduce an Incubus.

Touching the small of her back, my hands clasped the silkiness of her skin, pulling her closer on my lap.  The leather of her jeans rubbed against my hardness as her heat singed my body through my jeans.

“Kiss me,” she demanded as her gaze locked with mine.

My body longed to, even as my head knew better.  She was my prisioner.  I’d spent the last forty-eight hours trying to find her to bring her back to Vegas to answer for her crimes.  Jezzebel was a temptation in a small package and was using her body to corrupt my honor.

“Aw, hell. My honor be damned. I’m already destined for perdition.”

Taking possession of her mouth, I claimed it and marked it as my own. Nibbling down her neck, my fangs dropped.  Piercing her skin, Jezzebel moaned as my bite brought her to climax.

“And that was just the beginning.”

Cuffing Daisy By Leanore Elliott

Max held her hips above his ready cock. The handcuffs were a nice touch. The cuffing stretched her arms back, so that her tits rose up so nicely. He reached up and twisted them with a sensuous playfulness until she moaned from the sensation.

Daisy’s silken pussy rose and fell over his erected sensitive dick with a hot wet friction as she rode him hard. He knew he needed to hold his climax back until she was on the verge. He decided to speed up her trip over that edge. Reaching down, he stroked her clit with his index finger.

“Oh, Max…” she cried out. “No, I can’t handle that.”

Revving the finger stroking, he pinched an erected nipple and plunged his throbbing cock up high into her.

“Oh, sweet Max!” she shouted.

Max exploded inside of her while watching her sweet breasts jut out even more with her orgasm.

I woke up to the decisive click of metal. Disoriented for a moment, I realized I must have fallen asleep on the sofa. A weight pressed against my groin. Instantly alert thanks to the stirring in my pants, my eyes flew open. Her mouth crashed down on mine.

One hand caressed the back of my neck; the other was handcuffed…

“What the hell?” I tried to ask, but her insistent lips parted mine. Our tongues twined together.

She grinded into my lap. I bent my head to take a nipple between my lips, and she sucked in a breath.  Moaning, she pushed away from me, reached down to unzip my pants, and knelt between my legs. Her lips closed around the object of her desire. I closed my eyes, but this time I wouldn’t fall asleep. Next time she fell asleep on the sofa? I’d have a surprise for her.

The Ice Box-By Michel Prince

The time had come for Sarah to step up and put Anthony in his place.  He'd crossed the line one too many times.  Teasing her.  Tempting her.  Only to stop before they even touched.  He was her roommate and best friend since they were ten.  Never even trying to be more.

Anthony was asleep on the couch when Sarah tiptoed into the kitchen to pull a pair of handcuffs out that she'd hidden in the freezer for an extra bite.  Something about cold steel against her wrists made her nipples harden and tingle.  A smile crept across her lips at the thought of where she'd hidden the key.

As she straddled the man of her dreams he stirred underneath her.  With a quick clink of the handcuffs he woke dazed.  Sarah had left her hair down so she shook out her hair and leaned into his lips.  Not kissing.  It was her time to tease.

Crossing the line for Love

Why is it in romances we limit ourselves?  We look at the traditional story lines of “the girl next door” or “the stud in school”, but we rarely venture outside our own race.  Sure we’ll sleep with a vampire or werewolf.  Some people even have no problem with an elf, (Orlando Bloom the restraining order was a little much all I wanted was you in a blond wig with bow and arrow, clothing optional).   But lets face it, in modern romances we still consider even black and white to be edgy.

In The Frozen I have people of all nations, who because of they work for Gabriel and can be dropped anywhere in the world, find that love can be found anywhere.

You start with the main love interest of Kiri and Nye.  Kiri, white Southern California girl from the twentieth century and Nye a black former slave from the eighteen hundreds who has scars on his back to prove he knows not to cross racial lines.

But that’s just on love story in the book.  Inside the home of The Frozen are many demon hunters that found love on assignment.  Lars, a Swedish soldier, fell for Zarmina when he was in the Middle East in the early eighteen hundreds.  Zarmina was set to marry into a traditional arranged marriage when she ran across Lars who stole her heart.

Then Dilana who is from what is now the Balkan States who ends up being saved from herself by a man from northern Japan.  Kiyoshi had to make many sacrifices to be the woman he’d fallen for.

It’s not that I’m against two people from the same race falling in love, because the in the second book in The Frozen series that’s what happened because Trisha is the beautiful woman that showed up for Schmitty.  I’m just asking why is it still taboo to cross that line.  Is it the last forbidden fruit?  If so can I please have a fruit salad, because we never limit our characters when it comes to wealth, intelligence or ninja skills, but we are still limiting who they are attracted too.  And the little people in my head want no limits on love.

Ain't no dumb jocks here

I hate the phrase dumb jock.  I know that most consider it truth, but there is more to sports than running fast, hitting hard and aiming.  In women’s sports you have wonderful stats.  Girls that stay active in sports have a lower rate of teen pregnancy then their peers.  They tend to have higher GPA’s and a lower rate of drug and alcohol consumption.  For men it’s considered the opposite.  I’m here to dispel that myth.

Yes there are dumb jocks.  But there are also low achieving students that don’t participate in sports at all.  I’m tired of the stereotype that those who suit up to play a sport only can do it because the “nerd” does their homework for them.  If this were the case Kobe Bryant wouldn’t be able to speak five different languages…fluently.  Kobe is a student of the game also.  Having learned that you need study something to know about it he watches film from the beginning of basketball to current.

You look at Peyton Manning who graduated with a 3.61 GPA in three and half years.  You can say that he had someone do his homework, but you’d be an idiot.  Lets take a quick look at a couple of test scores.  Matt Birk, center for Baltimore Ravens, scored a 34 on his ACT while Sean Bedford, a center for Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets scored 1520 on his SAT’s.  For Sean who's now playing for Spain in NFL Europe if he never makes it the NFL with a GPA of 3.8 in aerospace engineering I’d say he’ll do just fine.

And being smart isn’t a new phenomenon.  Michael Jordan had a 3.2 coming out of high school and Scottie Pippen got his basketball scholarship partnered with an academic one.

It’s easy to say jocks are dumb.  Just like it’s easy to say that men don’t know how to diaper a child or can’t cook a meal.  Where do these stereotypes come from?  Seriously.  Is having a Y chromosome a precursor to stupidity?   No.

You will find the men in my stories are not only capable, but excel in the world.  Whether it’s Oscar Jefferys’ from Chrysalis who’s a star athlete, student and cook.  Okay I over did it with him a little, but he’s supposed to be perfect.  Or Nye from The Frozen who’s a gourmet chef.  Then in my WIPS I have Case Thomas in The Guardian’s Heart who’s a brilliant scientist as well as star athlete.

I’ve known a lot of jocks in my day and I’d say only a handful were below average academically, but they still were able to maintain a 2.0 to stay eligible.

Football is a chess game.  The only difference is the coaches can’t move the pieces with two fingers.  They have to have defensive players that have to try to read the offensive players who are trying to outsmart them.  A full play may only take ten seconds.  There has to be a quick reaction time by twenty two men on the field and eight to ten coaches on the sidelines and in the press box.  Would you have that reaction time?

Too often people see the stories of players who are gym rats playing ball every minute they can to try to get to the pros.  They never highlight the fact that the kid had to attend class and get their homework done.  We’re moving into a society of the fast buck.  “I don’t need to work in school, I’ll just make it to the NBA.”  Let’s get the stats on that one.  Over a million kids play basketball in rec or traveling leagues ever year.  There are thirty-two NBA teams, with fifteen players on their active roster.  So of those million kids four hundred and eighty could make a team.  That doesn’t include the players who have been around for over ten years in the league making it so there aren’t four hundred and eighty spots even open.  I’d be surprised if there were even fifty spots up for contention each year.

So where does that leave our dumb jock…SOL.  Don’t get me wrong I want young athletes to push with all their might to achieve the highest level they can.  Because all professional athletes were at one time Student-Athletes.  There is a reason that student is first in that equation.  Next time you see a kid with patches all over his letterman’s jacket look for the National Honor Society one, you might be pleasantly surprised how many have it.
If you want to see who the Sporting News thinks are the smartest athletes check out some amazing stats that have nothing to do with a field or court.
