Big league pitcher Killian Moss wants a family. What he needs is a steadfast woman who can handle long separations during the season. The kind of woman who will always be there for him and their children.
Movie actress Lorna Richards is an independent, publicity-shy, single mom who hides in Texas whenever she’s not on a shoot. Home and family is everything to Lorna and when she meets Killian, it seems that they want all the same things.
The passion between them flares bright and hot, but when Lorna decides to pay back a favor for a man who saved her career – a life-altering favor – then Killian may have to cry foul and back away. Everything between them hangs in the balance as Lorna must choose between giving a new life to her best friend or losing her dream of love and a happy ending with Killian.

FAQs
Q: Who is at risk for breast cancer?
A: All women are at risk for breast cancer. The majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no other known risk factors.
Q: What are the risk factors that put a woman at higher risk for breast cancer?
A: A personal history of breast or ovarian cancer, a relative who had breast cancer before menopause or in both breasts, a personal history of breast biopsy showing atypical hyperplasia or carcinoma in situ, being young at the time of your first period, starting menopause later, never being pregnant or having your first child after age 30 and having the mutated breast cancer gene BRCA1 or BRCA2

Q: What steps can I take?

A: Age 20 -39: Conduct monthly breast self-examinations and have a clinical breast examination every year. Women under age 40 with a family history of breast cancer and other concerns about their personal risk should consult a trained medical professional about risk assessment and when to begin screening mammography.
Age 40 and older: Conduct monthly breast self-examinations, have a clinical breast examination every year, and an annual mammogram.
Q: When should I do a breast self-examination?
A: The best time to do a breast self-examination is the same time each month. For menstruating women, the self-exam should be performed after the menstrual period has ended when the breasts are less tender.
Q: What is a clinical breast exam (CBE)?
A: A clinical breast exam is performed by a trained medical professional, includes visual examination and palpation (feeling) of the entire breast and underarm area, and is performed in both sitting and lying down positions. Women age 40 and older should have both a clinical breast examination and mammogram each year.

Sojourner: The Journey To A New BeginningDianthe’s gaze swept across the modest grounds of the plantation. Buildings stood in need of painting. Fields went untended. Starved slaves averted their gaze from her as her carriage came to a halt in front of the shabby big house. She inhaled. Sickness filled the air, but beneath it was the faintest hint of who she had traveled in search of. The slave woman she sought had not been on the land, but there was no mistaking the blood that ran through the runaway slave’s veins lingered on the grounds.
Dianthe did not have a need for the carriage. But there was no need to strike fear in the simple humans. She could use them to her purpose which was to find her son. My sweet, sweet Frederick.
The man who greeted her was a remnant from the south as was his attire. He did not know his death was coming.
If she did not need him, she would bring death to him quicker to feed her growing thirst and strengthen her diminishing resolve from the sun. She extended her hand at his beckoning, and the touch of his rough course skin annoyed her. She wanted to withdraw her hand, and wipe it clean; but instead, she smiled and with a slight curtsy educed the role of a demure woman of the south. Sickening recollections of her pretending to be the happy wife and mother crawled to the forefront of her long memory. She fluffed the silky folds of her skirt in an effort to distract herself from each hated thought.
John Brown, her oblivious husband, had believed each clever bloody thought to be his own. His devotion to the slave afforded her every opportunity to beguile him and convince him that the Africans needed a champion willing to act ruthlessly in favor of a greater mission.
Massacre upon massacre. Grave upon grave. No one noticed that she feasted on the men and women who had fallen, least of all John Brown.

Snowy Knights Kickoff

Excerpt from By the Light of the Blizzard

“Never surrender,” she teased as she hopped up and gave a little kick’s worth of snow to his face. “I don’t know about you, but I’m starving.”
Jace rolled on his back and looked straight up into the air. A few pine trees stretched to the heavens, and he guessed he needed to be thankful for the mood killing ice to his junk. No reason to push this further than the few nights’ stand it could end up being. Pushing himself up, he finally caught sight of his truck, or what remained of it. Kelsi wasn’t lying. There really was a transformer sitting on top of his truck. He wondered if the wires still at the top of the pole were live. Either way, it had to have taken out more than just her power.
When he walked into the cabin, the shift in temperature was apparent immediately. Kelsi was slicing a roast and plating the meat. It was then he saw the Dutch oven that must have cooked the food over the fire.
“Crews are being dispatched all over the Northland,” a voice from a wind-up radio spoke. “There are over fifty thousand customers without electricity tonight, and with the temperatures threatening to drop significantly in the next few hours, officials are directing people to the Roseau area schools where generators are set up to keep the heat on until all electricity is restored. Latest reports have the temperatures dropping to negative thirty-five tonight with a wind chill of negative sixty.”
The light on the radio dimmed a bit, and Kelsi turned it off. “Maybe we should have kept the snow pack on the roof for insulation.” She lit two more candles and placed them under the terra cotta planter, then tossed the first two into the trash. “Before you get completely out of your snow gear, would you mind bringing in a few dozen more logs? I have another planter set up, but I only have so many tea lights.”
Jace did as instructed, and soon, they had a pile by the fireplace that should keep them going for a few days if the wind didn’t totally get them.
While they ate, Kelsi laid out a plan to seal in the heat. “My brother tried to call me,” she stated plainly. “I’m surprised the signal made it through. I tried to call him back, but even with roaming, I couldn’t get through. It’s for the best.”
“Why?” Jace asked. “Because you’d have to tell him about me.”
“He’d freak out and rush to my side if he knew I had a stranger in my home.”
“But he’s fine with you being alone in your cabin?”
“Better than with a man I…” Kelsi trailed off and forked a carrot.
“With a man that you what?”
“Nothing.” She popped the carrot in her mouth and then held her hand over her lips.
“Outside, the kiss,” Jace said hitching his thumb over his shoulder. “I—”
“Should have done it sooner,” she replied. “You know, since I’m going to turn you into immigration for crossing the border illegally.”
“You wouldn’t?” Jace sobered at the thought he might have crossed illegally.
“I might,” she replied coyly. “You don’t know my level of crazy.”
“I haven’t seen a dozen cats living with you.”
“Oh, crap,” she said as she stood up quickly.
Jace jumped up too. Was there an animal in the cabin?
“Just kidding, but it’s sweet to know you actually cared.” Kelsi sat down.
Now he knew she was a special kind of loco.
“So, Captain Runyon—”
“I’m a captain now?” he asked a bit bemused.
“Would the Mounties really send a low ranking person to invade the country single handed?”
“I do have mad skills.”
“And you can handle my type of crazy.”
They kept to surface details as they continued with their meal. Jace watched as the sun set and the natural light left the room, replaced by the glow of a few larger candles causing flickers and shadowing that brought out the features on Kelsi’s cheeks. He wanted to trace each one as he explored every inch of her. Instead of good plates, she used paper ones, so the only clean-up they had, helped to fuel the fire.
“You sure like K.T. Stamp,” he said as he stood by her bookshelf.
“Uh-huh,” she replied, and placed another log on the fire.
“I didn’t know he wrote that many books.”
“She,” she corrected. “She wrote that many.”
“Huh, I always thought K.T. was a guy.”
“You notice how when you say the initials it sounds like Katie? It’s kind of her way of making the point. Sci-Fi isn’t just for the guys anymore.”
“I watched every episode of The Charter Trilogy.”
“Did you now?” A smirk lit up her face. “And how many of K.T.’s books have you read?”
“Um, I said I watched the TV show.”
“Picking up a book too much for you?”
“No, I have to work two jobs. I’m not really in a position to read freely.”
“You have free time now.” Her suggestion was followed by her coming closer to him.
“Those books haven’t been read.”
“Those copies haven’t,” she said. “I can assure you those books have been read in many countries thousands of times.”
“Are you the president of her fan club?” Jace stepped into Kelsi’s personal space and tucked back her hair. “If so, tell me all about her books. What makes you a mega fan?”
“Right now, it’s Captain Morley of the Third Fleet,” she replied, practically breathless.
“Sounds almost as important as an undercover Mountie,” he challenged, and leaned down to capture her lips. With one hand cradling her face and the other resting on her hip, he discovered she could step back and safely let him take command.
He walked her backward toward the bed, and she gasped when the back of her knees hit the mattress. “Jace…I—”
Placing his finger over her lips, he silenced her. “You only have so many candles and logs to heat this place. How about I show you an alternative heat source?"

When the cold hits, only he can warm her…

Most of us are familiar with Jesus’ parents, Mary and Joseph, and Jesus’ purported spouse, Mary Magdalene. But what about Jesus’ siblings? What role did they play in early Christianity?
Contemporary Jesuit and renowned religious historian Nicholas Branson is about to find out…and the answer will shake the foundations of the Judeo-Christian world.
It all starts with the murder of a United States Senator in a confessional, and the discovery of a strange religious document among his possessions. At the urging of his FBI friend, Branson joins the investigation. His effort to uncover the truth behind the murder draws him into the search for an eight-hundred-year-old treasure and into a web of ecclesiastical and political intrigue.
Accompanied by a beautiful, sharp-tongued research librarian, Jessica Jones, Branson follows a trail of clues, from the peaks of the awe inspiring French Pyrenees to the caves of war-torn Afghanistan. Along the way, shadowy powerful forces trail the pair, determined to keep safe a secret buried for centuries.

Cover me it's Monday with A Question Worth Asking by Angeline Fortin

11/28/2016

Picture
The halls of Glen Cairn Manor churned with so much love and wedded bliss of late the sight had become downright sickening. James MacKintosh couldn’t understand how his brothers had managed to fall love-struck one after another. Not when they all knew as well as he how such an emotion could send a man from heaven straight to the bowels of hell.

But, damned if they didn’t somehow make it all look so bloody appealing.

New York suffragette Primrose Eames had more than enough men trying to control her already. There was no chance she’d relent and marry again, despite her brothers’ dogged “encouragement” on the matter. More than anything, she wanted independence and the freedom to live life on her own terms. A husband would only serve to snatch that dream away from her forever.

What Prim needed was a decoy and James MacKintosh was just the man for the job.

Having failed in his search for the perfect woman to wed, James was happy to help Prim with a false courtship, but only because it served his purposes to avoid the matchmakers as well. However, James soon discovers that even a fictitious courtship with a woman set on never remarrying has its own challenges.

For Prim, the courtship begins to feel all too real. James is too charming, too engaging and so supportive of her cause. It doesn’t take long before she realizes there is a certain freedom to be found in marriage the right sort of man. If the right sort of man were interested in marriage, that is.

It’s only when betrayal and despair leave them both longing for more in their lives that they realize the importance of a love worth having, and a question worth asking.

Sneak Peek Saturday A Sailor's Delight by Beverly

11/26/2016

Picture
One night he doesn’t remember – One night she’ll never forget!
A Sailor’s Delight
Lee Santiago went from one mistake to the next. When a friend dies, exposing his mortality all too well Lee’s family steps in to force him to make something of himself. He can’t be a party boy all his life and if he wants to sign his life away, it will be on the dotted line. He doesn’t even have time to say goodbye. Anyway it was only a drunken one night stand.

Isabelle was always the good girl. Until that night. When the man she’d always worshiped finally noticed her. She couldn’t say no. She’s heartsick to find out he doesn’t remember it. Isabelle’s life crashes around her when the results are in. The truth comes out and she has nowhere to turn. She looks for Lee, but he’s gone.

Will he be man enough to step up and face the consequences when he learns the truth?

Excerpt:
“I’ve never seen you at a party before. I thought you were a good little girl.” His teasing voice sent thrills throughout her body.
“Today’s my birthday.” Isabelle snuggled closer to him. His body seemed to surround hers.
“So, does that make you legal today?”
Isabelle nodded vigorously then groaned. Her head swam from the movement. Maybe, just maybe she’d had a bit much to drink. Lee would take care of her though. He’d promised.
“But not legal for drinking yet.”
Isabelle pouted then sniffed.
“So what? Most of the people here aren’t twenty-one.”
“Doesn’t make it right.”
Isabelle craned her head around to look at him. Surprised at the hard note in his voice.
“But you’ve been drinking since you were in high school.”
“Again, doesn’t make it right. So, you decided to cut loose now that you’re an adult?”
The small smirk at the side of his mouth fascinated her. Somehow the tip of her finger made its way there. His lips were strong but soft, warm against the softness of her finger. The scruff around his mouth prickled her finger as he rubbed his face against it.
“Don’t play with fire, little girl.” He nipped the tip of her finger as he winked at her, sending a zing through her body.
Isabelle giggled. Normally she thought herself out of Lee’s league, but tonight that didn’t bother her in the least. She’d had too many jello shots to care. Snuggled in his arms, his hands on her affected her more than any bit of alcohol could. Combining them gave her a warm glow.
Isabelle wiggled, the trail of his fingertips tickling her neck and circling her ear. She could feel her nipples tightening, glad for her push up bra. It made her boobs look fabulous, but was thick enough to hide her body’s reaction.
Lee chuckled in her ear, sending warmth pooling low in her belly. Isabelle caught her breath as he trailed his finger down her breast unerringly circling her nipple.
“Cat got your tongue, little girl?”

Spending three weeks of her summer at the elite Foxwoode Riding Academy in northern Michigan should have been one of the happiest times of sixteen year-old Brynlei’s life. But from the moment Brynlei arrives at Foxwoode, she can’t shake the feeling she’s being watched. Then she hears the story of a girl who vanished on a trail ride four years earlier. While the other girls laugh over the story of the dead girl who haunts Foxwoode, Brynlei senses that the girl—or her ghost—may be lurking in the shadows.

Brynlei’s quest to reveal the truth interferes with her plan to keep her head down and win Foxwoode’s coveted Top Rider Award. To make things worse, someone discovers Brynlei’s search for answers and will go to any length to stop her. As Brynlei begins to unravel the facts surrounding the missing girl’s disappearance, she is faced with an impossible choice. Will she protect a valuable secret? Or save a life?
